How to Choose Winter Wear for your Baby

The arrival of new born baby in your home marks the onset of loads of happiness and love. So you need to take care of the new born infant in winter and have to look for the suitable attire that is warm and protective. Here are some points to keep in mind before buying your infant’s winter clothing.

Do not buy too many clothes. Babies grow incredibly fast in a few weeks. Some babies fit into new clothes for a short span of time and after sometimes these clothes are of no use. Winters may make babies prone to cold and cough and parents become extremely worried of this. So it is suggested,  buy clothes  at least one number larger in size than the actual clothes size of your baby.

Bundling your baby is a good option. Buy winter coats and use thermal wear of soft fabric, and jumpers or jhabalas. They are good for your infants. Finally drape your baby in baby wrapper.

Use bonnets and mittens to cover your baby’s hands and head. Zippers and elastics can be sources of discomfort for baby if they are in the wrong spot or are tight against baby’s skin. Look for clothing that has a layer of fabric between your baby and the zipper, make sure elastic is covered and check snaps for rough edges that might be harsh against the skin.

Baby socks and shoes must be in your baby’s wardrobe during the winter. You need to buy several pairs of socks for replacement. The newborns need no shoes. Some parents buy soft babies shoes just for style. If you buy shoes for baby then they should be soft and wide so that you do not have to struggle to get your baby’s foot inside it.

If your child is a bit old then prefer layering of cloths instead of bulky ones. Use thermal wear under the jersey or cardigan and it should be made up of soft woven fabric. Wrap your babies in blankets and make them wear sweaters.

In severe cold weather conditions such as snowfall your child should be dressed in bundle of clothing. In bitterly cold type of weather it is recommended to use gloves and caps along with sweater .To retain heat it is advisable to use a thin pair of cotton socks along with woolen socks.

Useful tips before going to buy clothes for your infant

1.  Rather than buying heavy snowsuits opt for layering of clothes like sweaters and light coat.

2. Do not use hat that has rough texture inside it. Before buying checks that the inside is soft.

3. Buy quality fabrics but this does not mean that you should buy silk clothes for your kids. Such a fabric causes rashes and irritations on their body.

4. Avoid using tight elastic bands at the arms, legs, neck and waist. This can irritate your child’s sensitive skin and block blood circulation.

Babies can not communicate in words so it is very essential for you to think carefully before buying clothes for them .Your little ignorance can result in discomfort for baby. So, next time when you are buying clothes for infants keep in mind these things.
