How to make Shakkar Para – Indian Recipe

Shakkar Para is a sweet-savoury snack. This is one of the more traditional Diwali and Holi snacks.

Preparation Time: 30 minutes
Cooking Time: 25 mimutes
Total Time: 55 minutes
Serving size:As per requirement

Wheat Flour -1-1/2 cups
Milk – ¼ cup
Sugar – 1/3 cup
Ghee – 2 tbsp
Salt a pinch
Ghee or Oil for deep frying


Take a bowl and mix flour and salt together into it.
Now mix milk, ghee and sugar well in a pan, put it on flame and bring the mixture to a boil and wait till the sugar gets completely dissolved.
Let the mixture cool down.
Now add the sugar syrup to the flour mixture and make stiff dough.
Make small balls and roll each ball into circles of 6 mm. thickness.
With the help of a Knife, pierce the surface and make diamond shaped pieces.
For at least 30 minutes keep them aside
Take a pan and heat oil into it.
Now deep fry the diamond pieces in hot oil on medium heat.
Let the Shakkar Para cool completely.
